Dr. Jennie Sanders

President & CEO

Jennie Sanders has more than forty years as a teacher/instructor and educational administrator and leader in public and parochial education as well as an adjunct professor in literacy. She has received extensive educational preparation and knowledge having received her Doctor of Education in Administration and Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University in Florida, Masters of Education in Educational Leadership, Administration and Supervision with an emphasis in Curriculum Development from the University of Maryland, College Park and her BA in Elementary Education K-8 from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her post Doctorate work includes certification in Project Management from the School of Education at Boston College and certified Trainer from the John Maxwell Leadership Team.


During the last 15 years, Jennie gained her background knowledge and understanding of brick masonry and construction from listening, observing, and working beside her late husband, Joe A. Sanders. She served as Vice President and Administrator of Sanders Masonry Inc for approximately 10 years. Currently, Jennie serves as an Independent Consultant for a Career Arts Accreditation Agency and as a consultant for an arts in education initiative in the DMV area. She works closely with her church affiliations and other area churches in partnering with agencies focusing on services and resources for families in the District of Columbia, Northeast Corridor. Jennie is currently active in the following service organizations: Top Ladies of Distinction, Prince George’s County, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Council of Negro Women.


Jennie’s passion for the work of Career/Vocational Technical Education is foremost as she looks at the data about students’ academic performance discrepancies, high school dropout rates, and the inequities in job opportunities and economic development. Her work as school improvement director gave a focused view on vocational training for students in high school in the district and in her work with wraparound services in both school districts where she worked. There is a need for a skilled workforce to meet the in-demand jobs. Investing in the development of individuals in the trade/career pathway will help to improve the quality of life for all of us.
